GettyImages 157439102 1Did you know that one apple provides as much dietary fiber as a bowl of bran cereal? That’s equal to one fifth of the recommended daily intake of fiber. Apples are also loaded with pectin, a soluble fiber that aids digestion and may help reduce cancer and heart disease. Apples are so diverse, you can use them in practically any kind of recipe, from breakfast baked goods to dinners and desserts! Here’s a fun snack recipe to try that uses an apple variation.

 

Fall Apple Chili Salsa Recipe

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large crisp-tart apple (Fuji or Gala), cored and chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, cored and chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • Salt and ground black pepper

 

DIRECTIONS

In a medium bowl, toss together the apples, peppers, jalapeno, garlic, mint cilantro, vinegar and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
